Custom Army Chopper Signed by Obama Up for Auction

Custom Army Chopper Signed by Obama Up for AuctionCustom Army Chopper

The United States Army Chopper bearing Obama's signature has been built by Hardcore Choppers and dubbed the P-40 Warhawk.

A custom-built two-wheeled machine signed by none other than US President Barack Obama is to go under the hammer in Las Vegas later this week, Barret-Jackson Auctions revealed recently. All the proceeds from the sale of the motorcycle are going to support military families.

Aside from the President's signature, the one-off motorcycle also features autographs from Vice President Joe Biden and national security adviser James Jones. It was, in fact, Jones’ son, Jim Jones, who donated the bike to the auction.

The special bike features an Army P40 Warhawk "theme" paint job and has been designed to recall 1950s European race cars. It features a six-speed transmission and a V-twin engine that is capable of developing 150 horsepower and 197 Nm of torque. This amount of power propels it from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph (258 km/h).

Other highlights of this special piece of machinery include aircraft quality wiring, a dove leather seat, handmade "two into one" stainless steel exhaust, and HC "speedster" bars with internal clutch and throttle. Rounding off the package are Avon tires covering the 18" rear and 21" front "speedster" wheels.

The P-40 Warhawk will be auctioned on September 23-25 to benefit the Fisher House Foundation. The foundation builds houses around the country and donates them to the government to provide free housing to military families who have someone being treated at a military or Veterans Affairs hospital.

Belgian Female Tennis Star Kim Clijsters

Kim Antonie Lode Clijsters is a Belgian professional tennis player. She is a former World No. 1 ranked player in singles and in doubles. As of 20 September 2010, Clijsters is ranked World No. 5
Tennis Star Kim ClijstersClijsters was born on June 8, 1983, in Bilzen, Limburg, in the Flemish Region of Belgium. She is the daughter of Lei Clijsters, a former footballer, and Els Vandecaetsbeek, a former national gymnastics champion. Lei Clijsters died of lung cancer on 4 January 2009. Clijsters says that she inherited footballer's legs from her father and a gymnast's flexibility and stamina from her mother and her tennis instructor. Kim's younger sister Elke finished 2002 as the ITF World Junior Doubles champion and retired in 2004 after back injuries.

Tennis Star Kim ClijstersIn December 2003, Clijsters announced her engagement to Australian Lleyton Hewitt, but their relationship ended in October 2004. In October 2006, Clijsters announced her engagement to American basketball player Brian Lynch, who is based in Kim's hometown of Bree. Clijsters gave birth to a daughter Jada Ellie on 25 February 2008.

Tennis Star Kim ClijstersClijsters has won 39 WTA singles titles and 11 WTA doubles titles. She has won three Grand Slam singles titles at the US Open in 2005, 2009 and 2010. She has also won the WTA Tour Championships singles title in 2002 and 2003. In doubles, she won the French Open and Wimbledon titles in 2003. Clijsters was twice a singles runner-up at the French Open and a one-time runner-up at the Australian Open, also reaching two Wimbledon singles semi-finals. She announced her retirement with immediate effect on 6 May 2007, but almost two years later, on 26 March 2009, she publicly declared her intent to return to the WTA tour for the 2009 summer hard court season. In only her third tournament back, she won her second US Open title, becoming the first unseeded player and wildcard to win the tournament, and the first mother to win a major since Evonne Goolagong in 1980. Clijsters is popularly known as one of the "comeback queens" of tennis.

Clijsters compiled a 90–12 singles record. Her singles win total was the highest single-season total by any woman since Navratilova in 1982. Clijsters was the first woman to play more than 100 singles matches in a year since Chris Evert in 1974.

Tennis Star Kim ClijstersIn returning to the World No. 1 ranking after the Australian Open in January 2006, Clijsters broke a rankings record. She was ranked as low as World No. 134 in March 2005, so her return to the top spot in a ten-month span was the fastest and biggest leap in women's tennis history.

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has also launched a video of the new middleweight streetfighter machine. Kawasaki is, in fact, offering a 360-degree view of the machine which comes as a sportier variant of the existing Z750 model.

The ‘R’ version comes with new brakes and exhaust system, though the engine remains unchanged. With a 748cc engine delivering 106 PS and superior handling, the Z750R is expected to appeal mostly European customers.

Coming as a competitive alternative to the Yamaha FZ8 and Triumph Street Triple, and as a cheaper choice compared with the ZX-6R, the 2011 Kawasaki Z750R has already aroused interest among two-wheeled fans.

The naked bike comes with a newly improved chassis with fully adjustable front forks, revised rear shock on a new aluminium swing arm, radial front brakes with braded lines and ABS as an option. Some styling tweaks have been made, such as the nose cone, indicators and footpegs.

Limited edition colors (Candy Lime Green and Flat Ebony) and revised clocks are also featured. Handlebar ends and ergonomics have also been revised. Ninja-style 6-spoke front wheel with reinforced rim contribute to the chassis balance, while the Dunlop 210 tires are meant to enhance handling.

The new bike with a raft of planned genuine accessories will be supported by Kawasaki which includes a Kawasaki Akrapovic slip-on silencer.

In October, the bike will be seen at the Intermot exhibition in Cologne and after that at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Live event in the UK in November. During the same month it is expected to be presented at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan.

Suzuki Teases 2011 Middleweight Gixxer Motorcycles

Suzuki Teases 2011 Middleweight Gixxer Motorcycles2011 Suzuki GSX-R 600/750

Reliable source close to Suzuki have leaked an artist rendering of what the rumoured all-new 2011 GSX-R 600 and possibly the GSX-R 750 might look like. The Japanese company didn’t confirm when the new GSX-R will be available. The current GSX-R 600/750 was last updated in 2008 so it’s no surprise that the two models will get only minor updates. The biggest changes are the four new air intakes stacked to the sides of the slimmer headlamp. Mechanically, we expect a small weight reduction and an equally small increase of power. We’ll have the full details on the new models from Intermot ‘10 in Germany.

For the time being, the company has released just one teaser photo showing the 2011 600/750 identical twins, previewing what looks to be a 2009 GSX-R1000. No surprise here, as the same designer, Shigeru Uchiyama, was responsible for both versions.

There are only minor changes prepared for 2011, mostly to the visual aspect of the bikes, but a small weight reduction and power increase are also expected. Four new air intakes are placed on the side of a redesigned, slimmer headlamp that now uses a pile of high and low beams.

These slight changes will require only minor investments for Suzuki, but it will also offer a somewhat fresh perspective to the gixxer line. Consumers will get to see for themselves the 2011 Suzuki GXR-600 and 2011 Suzuki GSX-R750 models at the Intermot Cologne bike show on October 5.

2011 Suzuki GSR750 Teaser Sketch Released

2011 Suzuki GSR750 Teaser Sketch Released2011 Suzuki GSR750 Sketch

The competition will be fierce for the newly launched Z750R from Kawasaki, as another Japanese motorcycle manufacturer is showing its weapons in the sportsbike-derived naked machines battle. Suzuki is one such example, as it has just unveiled the official sketch of the 2011 GSR750 model.

Using the same engine, but likely with less horsepower as the company’s GSX-R750 model, the all-new GSR750 from Suzuki will claim its share of the affordable middleweight naked class.

Combining comfortable ergonomics with reasonable street performance might, however, might not be enough to draw attention upon itself, so Suzuki engineers could also look into finding solutions to keep the cost down.

Styling gets far more aggressive than what we've seen so far in Suzuki's naked bikes, like the designers have tried to fill in the gap between the lines of the Gladius and those of the B-King.

This is why the chassis, frame and suspension is expected to be made from cheaper materials in order to achieve a reasonable price of around EUR7,500. Aside from the 2011 Kawasaki Z750R, the GSR750 will also have to battle Yamaha FZ8, Aprilia Shiver and Triumph Street Triple in getting the attention of European customers.

Suzuki will be taking the wraps off its 2011 GSR750 naked machine at the Intermot Cologne motorcycle show early next month, but hopefully it will make a full unveil in photos and technical details ahead of the public event. Also, we might also soon witness the launch of the smallest gixxer in the series, the GSX-R125, that has been rumored for a while now.

Suzuki Hayabusa Gets Platinum Air Suspension Touch

Suzuki Hayabusa Gets Platinum Air Suspension TouchHayabusa dropped

The team of specialists at Platinum Air Suspension has introduced a superior air ride technology for Suzuki Hayabusa, a system that allows riders to set the rebound and ride height of their sportbike. The adjustment, which uses the company’s BLEED FEED technology, is made by the flip of a switch.

According to the guys at Platinum Air Suspension, ride and handling are significantly improved because there is no bottoming out or bouncing.

"We feel it is critical not to compromise handling and full suspension movement when adjusting the ride height of a high performance motorcycle like the Suzuki Hayabusa," said Platinum Air Suspension owner Mike Ferris.

The system includes an air cylinder, machined from 6061 T-6 billet aluminum. The kit includes an air-control valve, DOT approved quarter-inch air lines, fittings, air compressor, switch hardware and a line cutter. Detailed mounting instructions are included. Platinum kits are also available at additional cost in powder coat, anodize and chrome.

Honda could be planning a small CBR250RR for the European market as a bike for new and less experienced licence holders. According to reports the CBR250RR could be brought to Europe next year, after establishing itself as a successful model in its class in Japan.

2011 New Honda CBR250RR
The hypothesis is that Honda could use the 250cc motor from the CRF cross model in an alluminium chassis, with a few touches to make it more robust for street use. If the plan is to bring such a model to Europe, Honda has more than one option at its disposal, as the smaller V2 from the VTR250 could also fit the bill.
